Early next year (I think it's Jan 15, 2014), American Airlines will no longer fly non stop between JFK (in NY) and BGI. If you want to take AA, you'll have to connect through Miami. So JetBlue will be the only non stop service between NYC and BIM.

That's not good news! My only option is RIC/MIA/BGI on AA.

There was a time when US Airways had great service direct to Bim from Philadelphia and Charlotte. Delta had service from Atlanta direct; that I believe has been discontinued.

I guess it's just a matter of economics. Those planes are expensive to operate and if the revenue is not there, they will just discontinue poorly performing routes.

It's also reflective of the current poor management of our tourism sector. These are the same people who sat on their hands as Almond folded.

I agree Frankie, this could well harm tourism from the USA.

I'm not a fan of JB ands they've already hiked up their fares now that they are the only game in town. In February, the coach fare on JB is more than the business class fare was on American. Little by little, American has been giving up it's non stop Caribbean routes to all of the islands. It's tough to understand that American gave up on the Barbados route. I have never been on an American flight to or from Barbados that hasn't been full.
