Boardwalk nearly ready!

Here we discuss all matters relating to travel on the south coast of Barbados.

Here is the shot of my visit to the South Coast Boardwalk last Friday evening, but first, here is a shot of the same area behind KFC Hastings which I took on March 28, 2007.

Now here is the same view two years later on May 01, 2009. As you can see the change is very dramatic even though we were there quite late and the light was fading.

Two contrasting shots and we certainly enjoyed our walks along it.
It was also good to see that they had planted numerous types of trees and plants and when they mature it will be even better.

Thanks for posting. :)

That's not good! Hats off to the locals that care! I know KNRX has his plate full on the west coast, but I hope he is aware of this! Good reporting Sue W. !

I wish we had a problem of trying to control too much sand right now. Our problem here in Road View/Mullins is the sand disappearing. Looks like the artificial headlands, etc., which they built to create sandy beach areas are working only too well. It's a shame the NCC is not stepping up to the plate and maintaining it but that, unfortunately, is what we have come to expect from Government in Barbados. Makes my blood boil.

It is a shame. After all the effort to build it just to ignore the maintenance side of things.

well if they take up the warped boards...how long before they put them back...having seen the speed at which construction projects move in Barbados one has to be a bit leery of that promise
As for all the explanations re the sand build-up...from the extent of his 'explanations' I gather there has been complaints...well, what the heck did people expect???You build by sand, you are bound to get sand...no rocket science there :?
I loved the boardwalk and am anxious to make use of it again in February....sand or no sand :D
