Don't Overstay Your Welcome

Postby KNRX on Sun Apr 19, 2009 7:25 pm

Last week we had an incident here in the Mullins/Road View area, actually at Battaleys Mews - http://battaleysmews.com/ - where some British expats were ejected from the island. I do not have all the details and the circumstances but it would appear they overstayed their welcome on the island. The word on the street is that they bought into a townhouse at Battaleys Mews (around US$ 1M before current recession), moved in and bought a car. I do not know if they were working but I think that may be a safe assumption. In any case, they were here for a long time perhaps over a year. Last week Immigration showed up at Battaleys Mews and escorted them to the airport. Now the bank has possession of the condo and they cannot return to the island. Lesson: If you love Barbados so much that you want to stay (I am having a hard time leaving myself) make sure your status with Immigration is on the up-and-up.
