My son passed by there during his stay late August and said that it had been completely gutted. :shock:

Thanks apple1. Yes it does look like it has been gutted, as you say when you look closely maybe needed doing, just hope they keep the relaxed vibe and don't try and make it too polished. I have always really enjoyed the ambiance there.

I totally agree re the vibe...but I as understand he wants to make it "the same but better" Seems like a nice fella who loves the island so I am hopeful...will be interesting to follow it's progress

We went for lunch today. Have to say I was very impressed. They did a great job with the renovation. It looks very nice but still feels like the Lonestar. The food and service were very good. Pleased to say an old favourite just got better in my opinion. :D Another great lunch...another great view

Glad you enjoyed it Em, look forward to visiting in February.
I didn't think Dave Whelan would do anything but make improvements.
