It will be a week of revelry and celebration when residents of the parish of St. Peter gather for their annual festival later this month.
This year's event, which is being coordinated in conjunction with the Community Development Department, will get under way on Saturday, June 20, with an opening ceremony at the Speighstown Esplanade at 6:00 p.m.
The next activity will be a church service at the All Saints Anglican Church on Sunday, June 21, at 8:00 a.m., while on the same day at 3:00 p.m., a primary school poetry competition will take place at the Almond Beach Resort.
On Monday, June 22, cricket takes centre stage with a celebrity match at the Mahaica Playing Field in Speightstown, while on Tuesday, June 23, it will be the turn of the footballers at the same venue. Both events begin at 7:00 p.m.
A treat will be in store for residents on Thursday, June 25, when a promenade takes place at the Mahaica Playing Field starting at 7:00 p.m. and on the following day, Friday, June 26, the event will continue at 7:30 p.m. at the same venue.
Saturday, June 27, will be a day of fun and frolic when the committee hosts the St. Peter Festival Fair at the Mahaica Playing Field starting at 10:00 a.m., while at 3:00 p.m. a variety concert showcasing some of the best talent from the parish will be held at the same location.
The festival will culminate on Sunday, June 28, with another promenade at 10:00 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m. a steel pan competition will be held. Both events will take place at the Mahaica Playing Field, Speightstown.

If you were still here, you would have been in the thick of things as your apt. was on Sand St. where activities are staged and, of course, the Mahaica Playingfield is only a stone's throw away. Is that where your husband got out lbw or was he caught in the gully, or was it silly mid-on![]()

Ah yes - that's the field he was struck on the pads by swing bowler.

Best I could do was google "got out lbw or was he caught in the gully, or was it silly mid-on" and hope that I made an intelligent response once I figured out the topic was cricket. Now, I could come up with all kinds of great responses if we were talking hockey or figure skating!![]()
