er... you have just got me under your spell !!

So, my question after reading this article is - as a traveler would you want to visit Barbados after reading it. Personally, I found it torturous, rambling and boring but I suppose that is the of style coffee table magazines. I didn't like how she dissed the beaches of my beloved west coast - "In any case, apart from their sunsets, the west coast beaches are overrated—often overburdened, overbuilt, or eroded little coves with no room to walk and mostly rocky, hard-to-enter waters. There are, of course, exceptions, such as Gibbes Beach, or Mullins Beach, just below Speightstown" although sadly, thanks to the groynes at St. Peter's Bay Villas even Mullins and Gibbes are going the way she described. Oh, and how dare she describe our returning visitors as "indentured tourists" - the gall, the temerity, the effrontery, the audacity, tut-tut

You living on the west coast is an added incentive.

Frankie, I didn't find it offensive at all, I think if I wasn't already hooked on Barbados, it would make me visit.

KNRX - You're not trying to start another West VS South, who has the better beaches debate, are you???

I thought the article was good, though the author clearly prefers the south coast beaches... The south coast is relaxed and easy—also best for swimming and walking....

I guess I should ask my question of someone who has never been to Barbados since you guys are all seasoned veterans and can pick the truth from the error. Even in the few cases where she does say something positive about Barbados she turns around in the same breath and douces it with cold water. Beaches across the island are in tough shape largely because of government neglect but to say that the west coast - the mecca of Barbados tourism - is only worth visiting for the sunsets it to miss the true charm of the island entirely, IMHO.

Frankie I know what you mean - no mention of Lower Carlton or Cobblers Cove beach, lets leave it like that shall we.
I love the west coast (as you probably know think I have said so somewhere ) I really just took her comments with
a pinch of salt - but I supposes prospective tourists might not.

I finally took time last night and read the review, word by word! Well, I would first say it is not a sugar coated article. In my opinion, it has more substance than most reviews I have read about the island in the past.

Clearly, the writer is not a fan of the West Coast and prefers the South and the East. But again, it is the point of view of the writer.

The importance here: the writer wrote about 5000 words about a country we all love and did so in her own style and point of view. As a promotional piece for Barbados, I would give it a B+! The pics are quite good and remember, “ a picture is worth a thousand words”.

In closing, I would say the impact on whether it influences those inclined to visit Barbados anyway, my answer would be “no” . Is it a positive promotional piece for Barbados, my answer is 'yes”

One last note: the writer talks about being at Lexie's one night and refers to an “old geezer swaying in the doorway”. I just wonder if KNRX was there that night.
