But is it meant to go further on ? does anyone know yet where the start & finish is supposed to be?
With the south one - the "finished" boardwalk ended just like that about 30 feet away from Coconut Court !

That's why this Boardwalk is known as the walkway from somewhere to nowhere HD In other words , a COMPLETE waste of time and money and the ruination of the beach

Seems as if its nearly finished. I gave a guy who works on the site a lift into Holetown one day and he was saying its due to be finished in 2 weeks time.

I did not see it myself but I was told that there was a report on CBC TV last night that the Holetown/West Coast Boardwalk is now officially open. I was also told that one or more BTA visiting the island may have been spotted walking along the boardwalk in that report.

West Coast Boardwalk ready
Attachment:

These two postmen also took some time out to view the new boardwalk.

Published on: 11/7/2009.

THE WEST COAST BOARDWALK has been completed and is indeed a picture of beauty.

Work being carried out by Capital Signal Caribbean Limited officially came to a halt on October 30, and showed the company had met its original target date, despite a few hitches encountered along the way.

Now fully landscaped, the area is already attracting dozens of tourists and locals on a daily basis, some of whom have been using it for exercise purposes.

The new boardwalk covers a 500-metre stretch and is valued in the region of BDS$6 million. It runs from the back of Beachlands, which is just above where the old Chefette Restaurant was located, down to Zaccios, formerly known as Cocomos.

Owner of the West Side Scuba Centre Trudy Grannum, said it was great to have the new boardwalk in the area, noting it had brought an added 'touch'.

"The beach was totally gone, it wasn't being utilised. But now with the boardwalk in place, the area has been attracting dozens . . . ," she added.

Grannum said while she loved the new look, she felt a jetty would have added that final touch and would also be good for recreation purposes.

"I feel Government should build some more jetties throughout the country. I really miss them, they are such a good source of recreation".

The SATURDAY SUN also caught up with two visitors, who expressed their delight with the boardwalk.

"It's very nice. It needs a bit of cleaning up but it's very beautiful" said Giles Hitchcock from England.

Jacob Vanhoudt from the Netherlands said he loved the new boardwalk and the fact that all Barbadian beaches were public.

"The boardwalk is fantastic. It should be a little longer, but I love it" he stated, adding that he would be visiting the five-kilometre boardwalk on the South Coast. (CT)

We walked this last week and thought the whole thing rather pointless. Much preferred the South Coast Boardwalk. ~sits back to see if the "Which is better - south or west?" debate starts~
