Hi finally registered I think! found my way over here from TA via link previously posted on there as trip7uk - TA set my name up!
Could you give me a hand re the map on Barbados.org. From all the different posts I am pretty sure the map isnt uptodate. We are staying on the west coast for the first time end of sept - have only been to the west during the day by car and then only to Cocomos and the shopping mall in holetown and mullins beach.
Is/was Blushes winebar/el gecko/blue rare/oasisbar/tml/baku beach club- bars/restaurants? have they closed or have they changed their names. I have never heard any of them mentioned on TA. . If these places still exist are they more casual bars than restaurants? Also ragamuffins is currently shut due to fire? and cocomos is hopefully reopening soon? I think there is a new bar by Tides cant remember the name but I think it moved from somewhere else?
I have also heard of Elbow room/Scarletts/Groots - are these in holetown or nearby?
we are staying at Crystal Cove and although I know theres not a lot round there it seems as though there is only the BlueMonkey bar at Paynes or the restaurants at Sandy Lane between Crystal Cove and Holetown or have I got it wrong? Particulary keen to know if there are any beach bars nearby for daytime. We plan on using the water taxi available and going some days to Colony Club and Tamarind - CC is by Holetown but is there anything nearby Tamarind?
thanks for any help

Hi Elaine from one Wiganer to another!
We stayed at CC about 5 years ago and took the water taxi to TC - well worth it for the ride.
There was nothing within walking distance really - The Cliff is about the nearest place - you can jump
a bus/taxi into Holetown where there are a couple of nices bars and restaurants - The Piano Bar is
ok - when are you going?

Hi there Happy days, if you look at my post on "favourite restaurants, I list nearly all the restaurants with descriptions there, but here is a list of changed ones
Blushes on 2nd Street is now Spago and immensely popular for Italian orientated food -------------they also have a branch on the Beach at Settlers next door to Sandpiper.
El Gecko is now Elbow Room and is a bar and restaurant where you cook your own meal on a hot stone. using top quality materials.
Blue Rare unfortunately was burned down, and is now going to be the Caribbean Restaurant but it isn't open yet.
Oasis Bar is still open as usual
Baku Bar is now The Beach house Restaurant which has moved from the Coach House ( which will be condos)
Scarletts and Daphne's is near Tamarind.
Groots is described in my previous post and has a very varied menu.
Ragamuffins has to be re-built.
You will find all the other restaurants on my previous post. Have fun trying them all
Hi Sue - I remember seeing your posts on TA as Wigangirl !- must be all our usually wet weather makes us want to escape! We are going in Sept - have only been in Jan before - dont usually choose to go all inc because we like to get out and about to the restaurants and bars but we got a good price for CC via Virgin so seems worth it plus I like the idea of going to the other hotels on the water taxi
Hi Turfclubgal - looked at your other post - great info -will definately try Elbow room and the Beach house amongst others- are these mainly evening restaurants or more casual day ones? What time do the bars stay open till - midnight is usually about our limit! I am also hoping to try the Fishpot this time - last time we had a car and came up go there for lunch -after being lost in the middle of the island for about 2 hours - it started raining - we were in a moke so decided to head back home!

Hi Elaine, cant complain about the weather in sunny Wigan at the moment - about time.
Say hello to Anthony in the cave bar, he took us into Holetown for the street party - had a ball.
If Celeste is still on reception she will do anything to help - a gem
Groots is brilliant and a lad from Orrell worked there - we called in to see him in Jan this year.
Lovely lady on the beach who sells trinkets - Patnell
Hope you have a lovely holiday.

Hi Happy ! Do try Spago -----------------I love it , BUT be careful to avoid eating on 2nd Sreet on a Friday---------------It has become the new "Gap2 and all the bright young things on the Island head for the Mews, Elbow Room, and the Piano Bar to drink. It can get very, very busy. Oh and Friday they stay open WELL after Midnight -------------more like 3 and 4 am. However, I am never there in September as it IS the quietest time.
Most of the Holetown Restaurants are more night-time than day restaurants with the exception of Indigo, which specialises in lunch and only opens Tuesday and Thursday in the evening, but last year closed for Hols in September. Asian Palm and one or two others do open at lunchtime though.

Oh, and I forgot Surfside, the Sports Bar on the beach ----------------------that is good for lunch. Food i varies from avarage to quite reasonable------------beef Stew is great and so is Lasagna and on Sunday night they have a good steel Band to entertain you before you go to 1st Street for the famous Sunday Karioke. It's opposite West Mall, down between the Police Station and Scotia Bank.---------just along from Cocomos, or whatever it is now !
