I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a new, noteworthy restaurant that's opened in BIM in the past year. The last "new" restaurant I've added to my places to dine is Cin Cin and that's been open more than a year.

Can't think of any Bill, we went to Cin Cin in Feb 2012 and it was ok but I wouldn't rush back there.
Have you tried the Fish Pot yet? We have always had excellent food and service there. Will be back at the end of Jan 2014 so will check on any new places.

I'm not very encouraged about tourism if there are no new restaurants in the past year. It doesn't sound like the people with the talent and the money think that the customers are there to support one.

I guess its what you eat Bill!
We did have lunch at Island Plates in Speightstown which had just opened, they now open 2 or 3 nights per week, its a lovely little place, also L'Attitude has opened in Speightstown, they have jazz, soul and a variety of music over the weekend, I think the food is more BBQ type stuff.

Sue, I've been to Island Plates for lunch...it was a fun place and Pat and Marie are good people. I believe that was there last year as well. I haven't been to L'Attitude...is that the old Mangoes or is that Pierre's (from Mangoes) new place or some other place?

Sue, did you have the bread pudding at Cin Cin? Larry makes it and it's to die for....really good. What didn't you like about Cin Cin...just curious...we've had some real good meals there.

I really fancy Cin Cin (it's on my hit list for May) however there are a few bad reviews of late on TA...strange...

Bill I am not a dessert lover so not had the pudding you mention.
I just thought that Cin-Cin was lacking in atmosphere and the food was ok but nothing special.
Yes Pierre did previously have Mangos which is now Jumas, some friends went to Jumas last week and said it was excellent.
We might give it a try next month.

Here are my restaurant reviews:

Fishpot mixed - Nice if you go with average expectations, but we had very poor fruits de mer, looked like a road accident outside a fish market. Also the curry came with a limp poppadum! Many people there seemed to be on a meal plan which lowers the atmos a bit.

Cin Cin - went once when it first opened. Really small portions. Bouebaisse very disappointing. Pudding great.

Lone Star, Cliff, Champers all 5 star.

Tides always disappointed for one reason or another

Daphnes - average, but always enjoy the cocktails beforehand

Surprisingly Good - Hotel restaurants such as SL RP and Treasure Beach

Erronay glad I am not the only one who has been disappointed with Tides!
The Cliff is my favourite but we also had an excellent meal at Daphnes last year.
So many wonderful restaurants to choose from.

Hi Sue,

The Cliff has to be the best, but you need an outer terrace table, and it is by any measure a bit pricey isn't it? The food is good, but it isn't Raymond Blanc. If you get stuck on the inner tier it is uncomfortably hot.

At Tides they over-salt the fish in my opinion, and they once gave away my taxi away to someone they must have felt was a more important customer! Others like them though.

E.

Erronay I might be biased towards the Cliff as the chef is a staunch Liverpool FC supporter :D Yes it is pricey but we consider it to be our treat in Barbados and yes a rail table is a must.
